The course began with a fascinating exploration of how luxury and society have been intertwined throughout history. Renowned professors shared insights into the evolving relationship, emphasizing how sustainability has become a central focus in modern luxury brands. This section provided a historical and cultural lens, showcasing how luxury reflects societal values and adapts to changing expectations.
A significant portion of the course highlighted LVMH’s environmental policy, which has been a cornerstone of its growth for over three decades. The Group’s initiatives include:
Reducing its carbon footprint.
Prioritizing sustainable sourcing and materials.
Protecting biodiversity and ecosystems.
This section also included a hands-on practice exercise, helping to contextualize LVMH’s actions and impact on environmental sustainability.
The course also focused on LVMH’s strong sense of responsibility toward society. The Group strives to create positive social impacts through initiatives such as:
Promoting diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
Supporting local communities through philanthropic projects.
Upholding fair labor practices and fostering creative talent globally.
This section reinforced the idea that sustainability extends beyond the environment, encompassing the social responsibility integral to the Group’s values.
This course underscored LVMH’s leadership in sustainable luxury, emphasizing that creativity, sustainability, and inclusivity are at the heart of its vision for the future. It demonstrated how luxury brands can lead by example, balancing business growth with meaningful contributions to the planet and society.
